Packaging plays a role in combating obesity?

It could, says a recent report to FDA.

The Keystone Forum on Away-From-Home Foods issued its final report in June on Opportunities for Preventing Weight Gain and Obesity, containing recommendations from all sorts of experts on ways to improve the management of calorie intake from foods "prepared and purchased away-from-home." See the full report via a link at www.fda.gov. Along with analysis of the issues and a series of recommendations, the report cites with approval one company's success at re-packaging snack foods in 100-calorie packs and another's switch to "contemporary" milk packaging, as examples of steps that can help turn more consumers toward healthier eating. Several aspects of labeling are also explored as possible aids.

Packaging as part of the answer to every problem? Just try to deny it.
