Glutamate labeling?

FDA's proposal to require new labeling declarations about the free glutamate content of foods is "scientifically unwarranted," the American Frozen Foods Institute told the agency.

Instead of warning-type labeling requirements, the group said FDA should continue to rely on ingredient labeling and educating consumers who might be sensitive or allergic to foods containing free glutamates. If such labeling requirements were to be adopted, virtually all processed foods would need to be tested and many would require frequent re-testing because ingredients and formulas often change.
