Grate Chef: Four-station rotary poucher for grill wipes

Packaging is done 2-up at a rate to 30 pouches/min on a four-station MFG Inc. pouching machine located at contract packager Packaging Division Inc. in Northlake, IL.

The process starts with pick-and-place transfer of the pouches onto the machine’s first station. That’s followed by pouch filling.

Filling of the pre-oiled wipes is done after the wipes are cut on-line and inserted into side-by-side duck-bill holders. The holders then swivel downward 90 degrees and are partially inserted into the opened pouches. Overhead plastic bars push the wipes out of the holders and into the pouches. After indexing to an unused station, the pouches are sealed and released to the conveyor for packing.
