Automatic splicing

Rovema (Lawrenceville, GA) introduces automatic film splicing for its f/f/s equipment. The automatic splicer can be integrated with the film carriage of Rovema’s new intermittent or continuous motion v/f/f/s machines, or retrofitted on existing equipment.

The new technology allows users to change rolls of film without stopping production. The change of film is executed without manual intervention. As the end of a roll is sensed, the splicer is automatically activated. Additionally, it is possible to switch between rolls at the touch of a button.

With a splice-in-register option, the unit provides non-stop production to packaging lines with only one unit of waste (i.e. bag, pouch, etc.) per roll change. The entire splicing function is integrated into the machine’s control system accessed from the touch screen operator interface. A stand-alone option of this new automatic splicing technology can be seen at the ROVEMA booth No. N-4214 during Pack Expo International 2002 in Chicago.
