The container is molded by Fourfold Mouldings (Keighley, West Yorkshire, England), and Eastar was selected for its clarity and impact strength without stress cracking.
The container design is patented and is capable of sitting atop an open bottle or clipping to a drinking glass. Once filled, the container is sealed using a specially designed linear low-density polyethylene press-on tamper-evident closure from Portola Packaging (Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England). SideKicks are available in five flavors and are shipped in 24-ct packs for on-premise sales and in 16-ct packs for retail sale.
“SideKick is the United Kingdom’s best-selling shot,” says Ian Cressey, a technical package development person at Bulmer. “We’re now selling about 100ꯠ per day.” Plus, he says, work is underway to develop a 50-mL version for the U.S. market. —AO
