Zed Industries: Biodegradable packaging

Zed Industries (Vandalia, OH) has developed what it claims is a 100% biodegradable skin package. The new package serves as an alternative to traditional skin packaging, as well as blister or clamshell packaging.

The biodegradable skin pack incorporates Biomax®, Bioflex®, and Ecoflex® or similar resin technology, which may be supplied by a variety of converters. According to Zed, the packaging can be composted and broken down. Costs will be reduced once the materials are produced in high volumes. As an alternative to using SBS board, Zed used organic and inorganic paper pulp substitutes that are said to provide 100% biodegradable substrates for less cost.
