The I/O module PSSu K F EI was created with distribution and machinery plants in mind, monitoring up to eight axes per controller. Only one Sin/Cosrotary encoder is needed for speed monitoring, but users can combine a rotary encoder and a proximity switch. The new module works with all common rotary encoder and feedback systems, eliminating the need for new ones. Regardless of PLC cycle times, users have the option of using local fast shutdown as needed.

The speed functions are set with a software tool that can change threshold values while in use. This software also allows for implementing safety features such as SSM "Safe Speed Monitoring," SSR "Safe Speed Range," SDI "Safe Direction" and SOS "Safe Operating Stop."
