PDC International Corp., producer of tamper-evident banding and shrink labeling machinery, has introduced the 90CX-ER Shrinksealer for the fast, continuous application of tamper-evident seals and shrink-sleeve neck labels.

The 90CX-ER applies neck bands up to 500 containers/min. Engineered for rugged “24/7” performance, the system features an enhanced, ultra-heavy-duty central drive system that’s vibration-free at high rpms. Bottle sizes range from 3-mL pharma vials to 1.75-L glass liquor bottles. Product handling systems can be supplied for any PDC system.

90CX-ER Shrinksealers apply PVC, PETG, PLA, and OPS sleeves, in gauges as thin as 40 micron, (1.5 mil) with sleeve diameters ranging from .375 to 2.0 in. (10 to 50 mm); and sleeve heights from .625 to 4 in.

PDC‘s Zero-Downtime “Splice-on-the-Fly” changeover feature allows a second film reel to be staged and spliced while operation continues at normal speed, thus eliminating the time wasted by traditional equipment for roll splicing. When a reel is spent, an end-of-reel sensor automatically clamps the material end and begins consuming from the accumulation festoon.

Once the splice is complete, the festoon refills by returning to its original position, awaiting the next roll change.

Standard features include stainless-steel frame, servo band feed, NEMA 4 enclosures, Allen-Bradley touchscreen and PLC, and static eliminator; there are sensors for low material and film feed, and available sensors for imprint and barcode verification.

Like all PDC systems, the 90CX-ER has a robust blade assembly that allows blades to be re-sharpened three times or more, and reversed, so one set provides long service life and cost savings (PDC blades last months, not days). Systems also feature tool-less changeover, another feature engineered to reduce costly downtime.

Both vertical and servo-controlled horizontal perforators may be added. As with all PDC shrink-sealing systems, heat tunnels, and conveyance can be supplied as part of an integrated package.

PDC 90CX-ER Shrinksealers are available in UL-approved versions. The use of widely available “off-the-shelf” replacement parts minimizes maintenance expense throughout the system’s long service life.

Testing can be arranged at the PDC Development Lab, which can run and analyze numerous film types for package development and prototyping.
