To help pet food manufacturers rethink packaging, Ahlstrom’s PawPrint papers provide a sustainable, fiber-based alternative to traditional plastic. Designed to meet both functional and aesthetic needs, they offer advanced grease and moisture resistance without PFAS, ensuring food stays fresh while maintaining high palatability standards for pets.

Emphasizing sustainability this packaging solution is made from FSC-certified, renewable wood-based cellulose fibers, are fully recyclable and eliminate the need for plastic laminates in many applications, contributing to reduced waste. FluoroFree® technology provides effective barrier properties without fluorochemicals, and the materials meet strict food safety standards, including FDA and BfR requirements.

The papers are engineered for versatility, supporting a variety of bag structures—including pinch bottom, SOS bottom, and 3-ply configurations—and offer printable outer layers and barrier inner liners suitable for lamination with OPP films.

By combining high functionality, vibrant branding capabilities, and environmental responsibility, PawPrint papers allow pet food brands to deliver packaging that satisfies consumer expectations and sustainability goals.

"Sustainable co-innovation is essential in today's packaging development," says Rafael Yamamoto, Head of Innovation for Ahlstrom Global Food Packaging. "By working collaboratively with our partners across the value chain, we can create packaging solutions that not only meet performance needs but also align with the environmental goals of our customers and end consumers."
