SEW-EURODRIVE, a global expert in drive automation and motion technology, announced the U.S. launch of DriveTag™, a customized barcode labeling service engineered to simplify product identification, streamline logistics, and optimize internal material flow for industrial customers.

Designed for today’s high-volume, high-efficiency operations, DriveTag™ empowers manufacturers, OEMs, and system integrators to achieve faster throughput, fewer errors, and greater traceability, all through a simple yet powerful labeling solution.

Connecting the Physical and Digital Worlds

Each DriveTag is a custom-engineered barcode label applied directly to SEW-EURODRIVE products or their packaging. Customers define the data embedded in the tag, such as their own material number, purchase order number, project number, and the SEW serial number, creating a fully personalized system that mirrors their internal processes.

DriveTags are available in multiple barcode formats, including DataMatrix, Code 39, Code 128, and PDF417, ensuring compatibility with existing scanners and data-capture systems. With one quick scan, users can instantly identify products electronically, eliminating manual data entry and reducing errors across receiving, warehousing, assembly, and service operations.

Seamless Integration with ERP and Inventory Systems

DriveTag goes beyond labeling; it connects seamlessly with a customer’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) or inventory management platforms. When scanned, DriveTag data flows directly into existing systems, creating real-time transparency across all stages of the material flow process.

Additionally, the Product ID plus app from SEW-EURODRIVE enhances convenience and access: by scanning the DriveTag QR code, users can immediately retrieve product-specific data, technical documentation, and service options right on their smartphone or tablet.

Benefits That Drive Real Results

DriveTag delivers measurable efficiency and operational value across every stage of product handling:

•    Time Savings: Automates data entry and accelerates processes in goods receipt, warehousing, assembly, and service.

•    Error Reduction: Minimizes manual input mistakes and ensures the right product reaches the right station every time.

•    Improved Efficiency: Streamlines material flow and inventory management, reducing downtime and bottlenecks.

•    Full Traceability: Enables complete tracking and sorting of products throughout their lifecycle.

“DriveTag transforms the way our customers manage their operations, connecting physical inventory with digital intelligence,” said Jeff Belk, Mechanical Product Manager at SEW-EURODRIVE. “By embedding customer-defined data into every product label, we’re giving them the ability to automate identification, improve visibility, and take control of their internal logistics with speed and precision.”

A Step Forward in Smart Manufacturing

With DriveTag, SEW-EURODRIVE continues to advance the future of smart manufacturing and intralogistics, helping U.S. customers optimize their operations through automation, digital connectivity, and process intelligence.
