Meadwestvaco: Enhancements to tobacco boards

Promina® Style from MeadWestvaco is a next generation solid bleached sulfate (SBS) tobacco board intended for use in premium tobacco packaging.

This super-premium, single-ply board uses optical brighteners and a controlled manufacturing process for ultra-white styling.  The Promina line provides efficiencies on converting equipment and cigarette packing lines at a targeted 5-6% lower basis weight than their previous board. The manufacturing process produces a sheet that is up to 40% cleaner than MWV’s previous high-whiteness offerings. It also provides reduced energy consumption, CO2 emissions and water usage compared with MWV’s Printkote Tobacco grades.
