Using proprietary new technologies Promina™ is almost identical to its
predecessor, Printkote® Tobacco, but has an average basis weight
reduction of 7%. Promina’s benefits also include enhanced printability,
runnability and consistency, producing a sheet that is 40% cleaner than
MWV’s previous premium quality board offering. Promina also provides the same pack stiffness, useful for the hinge
lid boxes. For a given amount of production, Promina (vs. Printkote
Tobacco) is expected to: reduce overall energy consumption by 6%;
reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 3%; use less water to produce.
