P&G 'pumps' cleaning container

Cincinnati-based Procter & Gamble granted a license to Changing Paradigms LLC, West Chester, OH, to make and distribute a “kid-safe” household cleaner in the United States called Pampers Clean ‘n Play.

Introduced to limited markets in December, the household cleaner used to clean surfaces that kids touch is sold in a tamper-evident 500-mL (16.9 oz) container developed by P&G with TricorBraun (St. Louis, MO).

According to Changing Paradigms’ senior vice president of operations and R&D Bob Ziek, the tapered high-density polyethylene container is made by Owens-Brockway (Toledo, OH). He says it’s made on O-B’s BC-3 machinery that injection-molds a specialty neck finish in one step, then extrusion-molds the bottle. The bottle is topped with a multi-part 0.5-mL fine mist sprayer that includes an injection-molded polypropylene body and actuator. Ziek says the sprayer is based on an Italian design so that the liquid is dispensed in an aerosol-like pattern. “It’s the first use of the technology in the U.S.,” says Ziek of the sprayer TricorBraun markets here under the name Tricos. The bottle is decorated with an in-mold label. Changing Paradigms outsources product filling.
