Saint-Gobain Containers promotes glass recycling to school-aged children through education program

Saint-Gobain Containers, a leading producer of glass containers for the food and beverage industries in the United States, recently launched its second feature animation targeted for elementary school-aged children illustrating the importance of recycling glass containers.

This content was written and submitted by the supplier. It has only been modified to comply with this publication’s space and style.

Saint-Gobain Containers’ education program featuring Captain Cullet and the Little Gob O’ Glass offers elementary schools, teachers and students alike a well-rounded program that now includes two quick online animated videos; an activity book with age-appropriate games, mazes and puzzles; and coloring sheets featuring the two animated characters Captain Cullet and the Little Gob O’ Glass.

“As a leader in glass packaging, Saint-Gobain Containers understands the importance of the early education about the benefits of recycling,” says Steve Rhea, Senior Vice President, Strategic Development for Saint-Gobain Containers. “This program provides an opportunity for Saint-Gobain Containers to participate and give back to the communities we serve while helping students to improve their carbon footprint.”

In the animation and education materials Captain Cullet is the main character.  He is a robot who crushes glass into cullet, or crushed glass containers, to be used again in future glass packaging. His sidekick, the Little Gob O’ Glass, is a drop of hot molten glass – the form of glass just before being molded into a container.

In the new animation, “Becoming a Glass Super Agent,” the duo focuses on the science of making glass as they give students a tour of a working glass factory. In “The Original Adventure,” Captain Cullet and Little Gob detail the history of glass and educate on the importance of choosing a healthy and safe package for food and beverages. Both animations cover the benefits of glass and the critical need to recycle glass for a greener environment.

The videos and downloadable files are free and available online at www.sgcontainers.com.
