Frozen meat pizzas must have a minimum meat content of 2% cooked or 3% raw meat, instead of 12% cooked or 15% raw under the old standards. FSIS is requiring that for at least the next three years the percentage of meat or poultry be declared on the label contiguous to the ingredient statement. The American Frozen Food Institute requested this action more than four years ago, claiming the old standards prevented frozen pizza manufacturers from offering lower-fat products and innovative pizza styles that today’s consumers expect.
