DHL: Shipping Case Optimization

DHL’s case/carton optimization tool (see diagram) can reduce customer shipping costs by making sure products are packaged in optimally sized boxes every time. 

The tool uses analytics to optimize the preconfigured array of cases in a warehouse to match the order profile and minimize dimensional weight charges. By analyzing clients’ order profiles, DHL Supply Chain can recommend the optimal configuration of cases for each customer’s specific profile. Customer pilots utilizing the technology have witnessed up to a 20% reduction in shipping costs when combined with other parcel optimization tools.
