Sorter increases food safety

Capable of sorting up to 55 tons of potatoes/hr., the TOMRA 5A potato sorter combines a straightforward graphical user interface with stable sorting performance. The peel control module takes data from the sorter to measure the peel removal levels and, then, calculates and sends the optimal steam time directly to the steam peeler. The sorter also provides foreign material removal, discarding items such as corn cobs, wood, stems, plastics and glass, and determines what leftover product can be sent to re-peel or trimming lines or made into alternative end products.
