WS Packaging Group acquires Consolidated Products Inc., Boelter Industries, Inc.

WS Packaging Group, Inc., printing and label converting operator in Green Bay, WI, has acquired Consolidated Products Inc., a label converting company located in Knoxville, TN., and Boelter Industries, Inc., a full-service folding carton company located in Winona, MN.

Consolidated Products produces compliance labels for industrial products; manufactures flexo, digital and domed labels; markets thermal transfer printers and ribbons, as well as automation equipment; specializes in providing turnkey RFID and warehouse management solutions; and provides both offset and digitally produced “Directions For Use” manuals and instruction sheets. The company is an ISO 9001:2008 certified manufacturer of pressure-sensitive labels and tags.

“Having Consolidated Products as part of WS Packaging’s future is a win-win situation,” said Rex Lane, chief executive officer of WS Packaging. “With more than 24 years of experience, adding their vast knowledge of the converting business and their other capabilities to our product offering strengthens our strategic initiatives to be a true single-source provider for a broad range of our customers’ printing and packaging needs.”

Consolidated Products has a long-standing commitment to engaging Lean manufacturing principles that focus on a higher level of accountability, shorter lead times, faster overall turn-around on projects, reduced waste, and improved cleanliness and organization throughout the company. Its willingness to embrace and build on a Lean culture will make for a smooth transition into the WS Packaging IMPACT Business System, a new approach to business that demonstrates and applies innovative change through Lean practices that positively impact the company, its employees, and its customers.

“We’re excited to join forces with WS Packaging,” said Kirk Icuss, president of Consolidated Products. “Our two companies have the same philosophy and commitment to product quality and creating long-lasting partnerships with our customers, based on continuous support and delivering value. Combining the capabilities of our two companies creates a powerful resource for all our customers, associates, and business partners.”

“Having Boelter Industries as part of WS Packaging’s future is a great win for all of us,” said Rex Lane, Chief Executive Officer of WS Packaging. “Their 40 years of experience, including their vast knowledge of the folding carton business and other capabilities, will help us further strengthen our single-source-to-completion concept, which provides our customers with everything they need to do their project right, from high-quality printing to on-time delivery, all within budget.”

Boelter Industries offers two distinct converting processes including offset lithography with an emphasis on small- to large-format, multi-colored, key-line, and/or process printing requirements. The second converting process is flexographic printing with inline die cutting, using state-of-the-art equipment in narrow-web, mid-range, and wide-web capabilities. In addition, Boelter Industries offers finishing capabilities such as window patching, where windows, pockets, or patches can be added to cartons, blanks, or substrates to clearly help showcase a product to customers.

“We are truly pleased by the opportunity to join WS Packaging,” said Dennis Boelter, President of Boelter Industries. “Our facility, capabilities, and craftsmanship will complement WS Packaging’s broad range of product and service offerings quite well.”

“Boelter Industries continuously strives to achieve superior performance by providing customers with quality products in a cost-effective manner,” Boelter added. “All levels of our operations have built-in quality checks. And we’re continually reviewing the latest technologies to enhance our equipment and streamline our operations, enabling us to better handle shorter lead times and deliver faster turnarounds.”
