Of the contest’s five categories, Constantia Flexibles was recognized in three--the only company to receive that number of accolades.
The European Aluminium Foil Association represents more than 100 companies utilizing alufoil in their products, including rolling and rewinding, container manufacturing and other types of flexible packaging development. Its Alufoil Trophy Awards showcase excellence in products that either are made from alufoil or contain alufoil as part of a laminate or structure. Its five categories address nearly every market for packaging and other technical uses. Winners in each category are grouped rather than ranked; a total of 13 entries were recognized.
Winning entries from Constantia Flexibles included:
• In the Consumer Convenience category, Constantia Flexibles was recognized for its Stick Pack Opening Solutions. The product’s foil laminate comprises PET/AL/PE or even paper/AL/PE to protect contents against moisture, oxygen and light. A laser perforation below the seal ensures easy opening of the stick. The PET or paper in the area of the laser seam is partially removed and the aluminum layer remains intact, ensuring impermeability.
• In the Resource Efficiency category, Constantia Flexibles was honored for its Blister Lidding Foil with Water-based Primer. The product's water-based lacquer system is an environmentally friendly, sustainable solution for many types of packaging."
• In the Technical Innovation category, Constantia Flexibles earned an award for its Staxyn Child-Resistant Blister Pack. The product combines child safety with ease-of-use as its paper-free laminate is conducive to hassle-free clean room production.
