Q14 opposed-mode photoelectric sensors from Banner (Minneapolis, MN) measure less than 1/3" W and can sense at a 70" range. They can detect for either object presence or absence, with either sinking (NPN) or sourcing (PNP) outputs, with an operating range from 5°F to 131°F.
