A brighter 2010 for healthcare packaging jobs

A grim hiring picture brought on by the recent recession and corporate consolidation seems to be improving.

During the darkest days of the recession, pharmaceutical and healthcare-related firms announced layoffs by the thousands. Next year could be brighter, according to Paul Sturgeon of KLA Industries, a recruiting firm that specializes in plastics and packaging.

In a “Forecast 2010” special report to be published in the December issues of Healthcare Packaging and Packaging World magazines, Sturgeon says,”2010 will be very different from 2009 in the area of employment. While 2009 will be remembered for the recession and unemployment hovering near double-digits, that trend is turning around fast in the healthcare packaging world.”

Evidence of job opportunities were found in several job openings posted on Web sites earlier this week, including the following leads:

• Validation engineer
Packaging engineer
Senior validation specialist
Marketing manager, medical devices
