The International Safe Transit Association (ISTA), the leading industry developer of pre-shipment performance testing standards for packaged products, today released a new whitepaper developed by the ISTA Pharma Committee: “ISTA PCW-01 | Lane Management Whitepaper.”
The ISTA Pharma Committee develops and publishes peer-reviewed technical guidance that addresses relevant needs of the industry as well as provides a forum for industry members to collaborate and share best practices.
The new whitepaper introduces the concept of lane management, establishes a definition and provides an overview of the lifecycle approach to lane management. A lane, which may also be referred to as a shipping lane or transportation lane, is defined in the ISTA PCG-00 Catalog Listing Glossary of Terms as "the two points that define the origin and destination for a shipment."
"There are various industry guidance documents on the transport of temperature-sensitive products, but there are no industry guidance or position documents on the topic of lane management,” said Arminda Montero, ISTA Pharma Committee at-large board officer. “I’m proud of our committee’s collaborative effort to drive standardization and help our industry implement agile, compliant solutions."
To provide greater standardization across all existing and in-development ISTA Pharma Committee guidance documents, the committee has also published a guidance paper “ISTA PCG-00: Catalog Listing & Glossary of Terms” that serves as a centralized glossary for common industry terms. These terms were also benchmarked with other industry association publications.
All ISTA Pharma Committee best practice guidelines and whitepapers are available on ISTA’s website.
