CannedWater4Kids and partners promote World Water Day

Likes and Tweets received by March 22 bring dollars to this charity whose mission is to bring clean, safe water to the children of the world who are currently without.

CannedWater4Kids is partnering with Novelis Inc., the world’s largest producer of rolled aluminum and the global leader in beverage can recycling, and Ball Corporation, the largest global producer of recyclable beverage cans, to raise awareness about the lack of safe water access for many people around the world.

CannedWater4Kids is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing safe water access to those who need it through sustainable water sourcing initiatives. Novelis and Ball are encouraging individuals around the world to show their support for CannedWater4Kids on World Water Day, March 22.

As part of Novelis’ commitment, the company has agreed to donate $1 for every person who takes action through social media to promote the importance of clean, safe water access on World Water Day, up to a total of $20,000.

How You Can Make a Difference:
1. “Like” the CannedWater4Kids Facebook page. Post it on your own Facebook page to recruit family and friends to do the same!
2. Follow @CannedWater4Kid or @Novelis on Twitter. Re-tweet @Novelis or @CannedWater4Kid with hashtag #WorldWaterDay.
3. Visit CannedWater4Kids.com and hit the “Donate” button to earn a $1 donation from Novelis.

Novelis will donate $1 for every person who supports the cause in one of these three ways, up to $20,000.

“Nearly one billion people in developing countries do not have access to safe drinking water. CannedWater4Kids is committed to reducing this number,” said Greg Stromberg, CannedWater4Kids founder and CEO. “Due to the gracious support from Novelis, by doing something as simple as clicking ‘Like’ or Retweeting on World Water Day, you have the power to help bring clean water to children around the world.”

“Water is a precious resource that many people currently take for granted, but we are likely to see growing water shortages. Novelis is committed to reducing our water usage as a company,” commented John Gardner, vice president and chief sustainability officer for Novelis. “We commend the work that CannedWater4Kids is doing to bring safe water to communities around the world, and we encourage everyone to help us contribute to this cause.”

“Water is an important sustainability issue for businesses and communities,” said Bjoern Kulmann, director, sustainability for Ball Corporation. “Reducing our water use is a sustainability priority for Ball, and our longstanding relationship with CannedWater4Kids is part of our continuing sustainability efforts.”

The United Nations started World Water Day in 1993 as a way to focus attention on the importance of fresh water and to support the sustainable management of freshwater services. Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of fresh water. This year, the day will be focused on water and food security – to encourage people to make healthier choices, consume less water-intensive products, and reduce water and food waste. Supporting this cause is important is important to bringing clean, safe water to people around the world.
