Packaging school launches new programs

MSU School of Packaging is renewing its commitment to Outreach Education by developing and launching a new series of seminars and short courses in 2008.

According to Peggy Nuerenberg, coordinator, Outreach Education Programs, “I am looking to revitalize and rebuild this once strong arm of the school into a program that is once again a great resource for collaboration and service to industry in life-long learning.”

Nuerenberg says the school will address current topics such as universal design, bio-based materials, nanotechnology in packaging, RFID technologies, and the move toward “green” strategies. She also plans to renew some of the basic courses that were successful in the past, such as “Principles of Packaging for Non-Packaging Professionals,” “Current Issues in Pharmaceutical Packaging,” and training in basic testing and instrumentation.

Nuerenberg invites professionals to give input as to what programs and seminars would best suit their interests and education needs. A survey is currently online at www.pkg.msu.edu.
