Ontario packaging fees seen likely to resurface

With a new government in Ontario, it’s too early to get a firm reading on the future of Bill 90, the Waste Diversion Act, that would trigger packaging fees.

An industry coalition has been formed to push the new administration to change the Blue Box plan, but others are calling for implementation of the current plan (see: packworld.com/go/x109).

Some observers say the Liberal government could adopt a plan even worse for industry, reports Michele Raymond in State Recycling Laws Update. The consensus: expect no action until sometime next year.
