Polytainers implements HACCP

Polytainers’ Toronto plant has implemented a food safety system in compliance with Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP).

The company’s Lee’s Summit, MO-based plant is in the process of implementing the same HACCP procedures as well.

HACCP is a systematic approach to monitoring every step in food production processes to ensure a safe and wholesome food supply.

Polytainers currently has a fully functioning Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) program where a full hazard analysis for all forms of potential contamination has been completed, and critical control points, critical limits, and a corrective action system have been established. The entire implementation and certification process, which normally takes a year to a year-and-a-half, was accomplished by Polytainers in five months.

The company’s compliance with HACCP guidelines preempts and exceeds the requirements of the US Bioterrorism Act. It is monitored by the Standards Council of Canada in accord with Codex Alimentarius, and international commission that is part of the World Health Organization. Codex Alimentarius administers HACCP guidelines worldwide.
