Florida takes step toward eliminating ADF

In what amounted to a complete reversal of a bill extending Florida's Advance Disposal Fee (ADF) for two years, the Senate's Natural Resources Committee voted for an amendment repealing the fee as of July 1, 1995.

The 2¢/package fee applies to products whose packages don't meet recycling standards.

The Committee's action was but the first step in repealing the tax. The original bill extending the tax for two years will be considered by other Senate committees and may come up for a floor vote. A similar extension bill has been introduced in the Florida House.
