Also in France, bag-in-box wine making inroads. . .

The traditionally conservative French wine market is beginning to accept bag-in-box wine packaging.

While the bag-in-box wine container has been one of the fastest growing segments of the market worldwide, France has been slower to see market gains. And, the bag-in-box package must compete with the personal plastic jug in France. The French can visit a merchant or chateau with a plastic jug and have it filled by tap from a large vat. Only nine percent of the wine container market share belongs to bag-in-box packaging—similar to the United Kingdom. Elsewhere, the market penetration rate is up to 42% in Norway, 33% in Sweden, 25% in Finland, and 12% in Denmark. Not surprising since these Nordic countries have a reputation for appreciating progressive, environmentally-friendly packaging.
