A recent Neilsen study indicates that the retailer brand confectionery market has grown significantly in Western, Central and Eastern Europe.

In the United Kingdom, nearly a quarter of confectionery products sold were retailer brands in 2006. In France, the retailer brands of confectionery held 19.1 percent of the confectionery market, and in Germany, 35. 8 percent of the market was held by retailer brand confectionery. The biggest market share gains were in Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia, according to the study.
