Use of ISO symbols will be allowed in the future. The symbols may be used only on packaging that complies with the requirements established in the 1994 Packaging Waste Directive of the European Union. Industry has complained that the new markings are redundant and will only serve to confuse consumers, reported the European Foodservice & Packaging Association. The legislation must be approved by the European Parliament and the Council of Ministers.
New European marks?
