The new Flower-FreshTM RetainTM features two products – one a no-spill packaging solution for boxed flowers, and the second a no-spill carry bag with a variety of potential retail uses.
Ian Beardsall, director of product & process development, said: “The solution for boxed flowers has the potential to revolutionise the market. Water leaking in boxed flowers is a significant problem, and this product has solved the problem.
“No matter what happens to the box in transit, the water will be retained in the packaging – meaning the flowers will always have the correct amount of water needed to stay in premium condition, and there’ll be no more wet cardboard boxes.
RetainTM for boxed flowers has been developed in conjunction with a leading supermarket.
The RetainTM carry-bag uses patented valve technology to ensure the water stays within the bag – even if the bag is laid on its side or turned upside down.
Sandra Evans, horticultural sales manager, said: “The bag is puncture-resistant, and offers a great solution for people selling flowers. The design of the bag means it’s perfect for mail-order and home-delivery services as well as over-the-counter flower sales.”
