DSM Engineering Plastics: "Green" flexible packaging for smoked meat

DSM Engineering Plastics uses low oligomer polyamide (LOPA) to reduce lactam pollution in BOPA film production and in co-extrusion of PA6 outer layer(s) to provide a breathable, cost-effective film to replace highly polluting cellulose in smoked meat applications.

Lactam pollution evaporates and condenses in the form of a fine, white powder that adheres to equipment, walls and ceilings, and is easily transported through the air where it can be inhaled by workers.  DSM’s reduction of lactam pollution in BOPA produces a more eco-friendly solution to the packaging of smoked meat.
