A microwavable tray/lid package for steaming produce is the newest addition to the Simple Steps™ line of heat-and-serve packaging from Sealed Air’s Cryovac® brand. Comprised of a clear, rigid, PP tray with a nonbarrier, easy-open sealant and a permeable anti-fog coated lidstock, the Simple Steps lidstock package allows produce to steam-cook in just minutes in the microwave. Packages can run on a range of existing equipment. Available in a variety of sizes, both the lidstock and trays come from a single supplier. The new package also allows for printing on the film, which eliminates the cost associated with producing sleeves. The easy-to-stack packages have a shelf life of 10 to 14 days.
