A recent report on BBC news detailed the many ways shipping containers get recycled after their useful shipping life is over (after 10-15 years). Since 1960, these huge "boxes" have transported goods all over the world. A traveling home for a Barnum & Bailey elephant, refrigeration units for Iraq, radar-proof storage for the army—just a few of the ways one UK company has given old boxes new life. Of course more traditional uses such as construction site offices and storage are also popular recycling options. The ultimate recycling? Containers are shredded, loaded into another container, and shipped to China where they are made into—what else—shipping containers!
