This after new standards were put in place to shift use of sisal for bagging coffee to jute—a material used by 95 percent of coffee growers around the world. Jute is much cheaper than sisal--the move will save up to 23 percent of the cost of coffee export bags. Jute is also biodegradable, reusable and more durable than sisal.
