The fitment's flanges are welded ultrasonically to the internal PE liner found in most gabletop cartons. To use, the overcap with a TE band is first removed. Next, the pull ring is pulled out, removing the membrane.

Portola Packaging (San Jose, CA) has introduced a new line of LDPE TE fitments for half-gal and 2-L gabletop paperboard cartons. The EL 64 extended-life molded-membrane fitment consists of a threaded closure and overcap, plus a membrane with a pull ring inside for added tam-per evidence.
