Embracing a popular saying Le green, ce’est chic! (Green is chic!), French company Bo.Ho Cosmetics offers petrochemical-free, natural makeup products that follow a simple philosophy: “Quality, ethical commitment, eco-design, and societal activism.”

For its newest line, Bo.Ho has expanded its use of eco-friendly packaging materials from recycled paper and plastic to include ash-tree wood from Pujolasos Wood Packaging. The light-colored wood gives its compacts and nail polish products a young and fresh look, while still creating an organic and premium feel.

Explains Pujolasos CEO Angel Pujolasos, “Bo.Ho wanted to incorporate a new material into their product line, mainly characterized by a natural, ecological material that’s related to sustainability and luxury at the same time.

“The client also wanted to use material that was easy to customize and could stay in the market for a long time, adding value to their end product.”

He adds that ash-tree wood was selected for its aesthetic appeal and its ability to differentate Bo.Ho’s products in the market. The wood is sourced from suppliers in Eastern and Western Europe and is certified by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).

Bo.Ho is using the wood for its Boho eyeshadow compact, which features four round holes fitted with magnets that allow consumers to customize their compact, and a cover that swivels on and off. Consumers can choose from among 40 eyeshadow colors and can reuse the compact multiple times. The wood is also used for the cap of Bo.Ho’s nail polish varieties.

The lid of the compact and top of the nail polish cap are embossed with the Bo.Ho logo using laser engraving.

The new packaging was introduced to the market in early 2016 and is available online and in “perfumeries” across France.
