EDV Packaging was chosen as the supplier of the trays used for the new range of 125-g high-meat-content cat and dog food. EDV coextrudes and thermoforms the white PP/EVOH/PP material in Llinars del Valles, Barcelona, Spain. The material ensures the integrity of the tray during the demanding retort process and provides a barrier to oxygen, moisture, and aroma. Shelf life is 12 months at room temperature.
The new 125-g range complements an existing range of larger, 395-g products and lets Forthglade offer a single-serve pack in a contemporary plastic tray.
