Klöckner Pentaplast has earned a Safe Quality Food (SQF) Level 3 Certification, the highest possible rating, at its Greenville, OH, site. The certification is achieved when a company demonstrates an exceptional food safety and quality management system.
SQF is recognized globally by retailers and foodservice providers who require a rigorous, credible food safety management system. The SQF Program is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and links primary production certification to food manufacturing, distribution, and agent/broker management certification. SQF is unique in that it integrates a quality component as well as food safety. Level 3 certification expands beyond the food safety requirements contained at the first two levels and implements a quality standard which verifies Klöckner Pentaplast’s ability to provide customers with the highest quality products throughout the entire production process.
As end-consumer demand for improved food safety assurances increases, the need for objective evidence that food safety and quality control systems have been effectively implemented and maintained encompasses not only the final product provider but also the critical suppliers in the value chain. Current customers with an interest in Klöckner Pentaplast’s participation in the process expressed a minimum expectation of Level 2 certification, which confirms fundamental food safety controls along with a certified HACCP food safety plan benchmarked by GFSI.
Justin Glass, Business Manager Food Films at Klöckner Pentaplast, remarks: “Achieving SQF Level 3 Certification validates our commitment to quality, safety, and reliability, which provides our customers assurance that their brands’ packaging requirements are well protected.”
