—Rexall Sundown, Inc. (Boca Raton, FL) has announced that Steve Christian, operations training manager, has become the first Certified GMP Trainer in the nutritional supplement industry.

—Deardorff Associates (Wilmington, DE) was awarded a Philly Gold award by the Art Director’s Club of Philadelphia for its DuPont Teijin Films global launch campaign.

—The Fibre Box Assn. (Rolling Meadows, IL) and the Assn. of Independent Corrugated Converters (Alexandria, VA) have presented the 1999 Corrugated Industry Safety Awards to the following recipients: International Paper Co.; Unicor Packaging Group; Smurfit-Stone Container Corp.; Inland Paperboard and Packaging, Inc.; Willamette Industries, Inc.; Mead Containerboard Div.; Gaylord Container Corp.; Weyerhaeuser Co.; and Georgia-Pacific Corp.

—Mead Corp.’s (Dayton, OH) coated board div. recently initiated a third-party audit of its forestry operations. The results indicate that the co. is in conformance with the objectives of the SFI Standard on all coated board timberlands in Alabama and Georgia.

—Impac (Warrington, PA) was given the Award of Excellence for 1999 by Revlon.

—Poly-Seal Corp. (Baltimore, MD), Seaquist Perfect (Cary, IN) and Wheaton USA, Inc. (Millville, NJ) were presented with awards at the National Assn. of Container Distributors convention in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.

—SKC (Covington, GA) has earned the 2000 Frost and Sullivan Market Eng. Growth Strategy Award for its presence in the U.S. polyester film market.

—Dr. Sevugan Palaniappan, mgr. of technology innovation at The Minute Maid Co. (Houston, TX), is the recipient of the 2000 Intl. Assn. of Food Industry Suppliers Foundation Award, recognizing him as an “emerging food engineer.”
