Atlantis starts-up seven-layer film line

A new seven-layer cast coextruded film line is debuting at Atlantis Plastics, Custom Films Division, Atlanta, GA.

The film line is capable of running a variety of multilayer films and barrier structures incorporating polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon, polyester, ethylene vinyl alcohol and other specialty resins. Depending on material, it runs coextruded film ranging from 0.5 to 8 mil in thickness. Finished web widths can be produced at 10” to 120”. The new line is said to produce flat film down to a +/-1% gauge variation across the web. The primary equipment on the line is supplied by Davis-Standard (Pawcatuck, CT).

Product types targeted for production on this line include barrier, packaging and sealant films for produce, frozen and dry food; masking films; carrier/release films; embossed lamination films; and release and coating films for label and tape applications.
