Based in Camden, NJ, Campbell Soup Company representative John Faulkner says, “In the prepared foods category, people are familiar with this type of package. The point of differentiation for us is that baking sauce is included in a can with an easy-open pop-top lid.” The easy-open lids were introduced last year for Campbell’s ready-to-serve soups. “This is the first for our condensed line,” he says.
Campbell will not release information on its packaging suppliers. The folding carton is 20-pt SBS, litho-printed in six colors. There is a paperboard sleeve inside the box that separates the can from the other components. “That is to reduce the potential for product damage and deliver some stability,” says Faulkner.
Four meal varieties can be found in the prepackaged dinner aisle at retail grocery stores for $2.99. (EF)
