Squid Ink: Dot matrix printer

Printing high-quality dot matrix characters on a variety of products, the SQ/2 ink jet printing system from Squid Ink uses a patented micro-channeling technology to eliminate the need for a costly array of fluid valves.

The SQ/2 printing system consists of a user-friendly input device, system controller and the option of one or two printheads. With the addition of micro-channeling technology, ink simply is distributed through a series of channels, keeping production and maintenance costs to a minimum.

The SQ/2 system is available with the option of one or two printheads. Three different print sizes are available: .75-in. (20.0 mm), .5-in. (12.7 mm) or .375-in. (9.53 mm) character height.  Each printhead has the capability to print 7 x 5 or 5 x 5 dot matrix characters at speeds up to 200 ft./min. (60.8 m/min.).  Customers also have the option to upgrade to different size printheads in the field.

The standard SQ/2 system is designed to run water-based inks for printing on corrugated cases, paper packaging, and other porous surfaces.  Non-porous surfaces such as plastic, metals, stretch films and coated papers can be printed on with a solvent-based model.

Easy to operate, the system uses a handheld keypad pre-programmed to walk the user through the setup of their message.  Follows prompts to print text up to 60 characters in length.  For integration with PCs or other systems, a standard RS-232 communications port and interface program is available.  Printhead mounting hardware includes quick disconnect fittings for simple set-up and take-down.  From out of box to installation, users can be fully operational in a matter of minutes.
