Procter & Gamble's flexible bottle designed to reduce product waste

Head & Shoulders, a Procter & Gamble brand headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States, has introduced its BARE shampoo range featuring a redesigned flexible packaging format intended to improve product evacuation and reduce material use. The packaging innovation centers on the BARE Ecobottle, which is engineered to be lightweight, flexible, and rollable, enabling consumers to squeeze out nearly all of the shampoo remaining inside the container. This approach addresses a common issue associated with rigid plastic packaging, where residual product can be difficult to access and may be discarded along with the bottle. The Ecobottle uses 45% less plastic than the company’s standard 370 ml bottle, reducing the amount of packaging material required per unit of product. In addition to material reduction, both the bottle and cap are designed to be recyclable through existing recycling streams where facilities are available. The flexible structure differs from conventional shampoo packaging by prioritizing compressibility and ease of emptying while maintaining the functionality required for storage, transport, and consumer use. The design also supports the company’s broader efforts to reduce packaging material consumption without changing the fundamental product delivery format familiar to consumers. By combining lightweight construction, reduced plastic content, recyclability, and improved product evacuation, the packaging seeks to address both resource efficiency and consumer convenience.

Mondelēz International's resealable pack targets on-the-go snacking

Mondelēz International, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, USA, has introduced a new Grab & Go packaging format for its Cadbury Dairy Milk range, combining portion control with a resealable wrapper designed for multiple consumption occasions. The new 56 g (2 oz) format is available across Cadbury Dairy Milk, Cadbury Dairy Milk Fruit & Nut and Cadbury Dairy Milk Marvellous Creations. Unlike conventional single-serve chocolate bars, the new format divides the product into two equally sized portions formed as larger chocolate chunks, allowing consumers to consume part of the product and reseal the remaining portion for later. The flexible wrapper incorporates a resealable closure intended to maintain product freshness after opening while improving portability for consumers eating on the move. The design reflects growing demand for snack packaging that supports incremental consumption rather than requiring the entire product to be consumed immediately after opening. By combining a compact pack size with a resealable feature, the packaging aims to reduce handling while improving convenience during transport, work and travel.

KinderFarms introduces resealable pouch to improve electrolyte drink portability

KinderFarms, based in Santa Monica, California, USA, has introduced a new packaging format for its electrolyte drink mix, combining individual stick packs with a flexible resealable stand-up pouch. The outer pouch is designed to store multiple single-serve sachets while providing resealability to help protect the remaining contents after opening. The stand-up format offers efficient shelf presentation and storage, while the lightweight flexible construction supports portability. Inside the pouch, the individual stick packs provide pre-measured portions that can be carried separately and prepared away from home, reducing the need to transport the full pack. The combination of a resealable pouch and single-dose sachets is intended to improve convenience for families by supporting repeated use while maintaining product organization. The packaging format demonstrates how flexible packaging can combine product protection, portion control and portability within a single pack, making it suitable for wellness products designed for on-the-go consumption.
