UV-activated coatings

Waldorf (St. Paul, MN) has introduced Chamelacolors(TM), a new graphic enhancement coating for folding cartons that is activated by sunlight. Exposure to sun or black light activates the coating for a timeable color change that can take from 5 to 30 sec.

It reverts to a translucent color when unexposed. Now available as an in-line process for offset and gravure printing, it lays down like a process ink and is available in four colors. Applications include value-added promotions or tamper- evidence.
