JLS Automation acquired the assets of the Robotic Division of Diversified Control Systems.

Collins Ink Corp. acquired the UV curable Inkjet and Optical disc coating business of Hexion Specialty Chemicals, Inc.

RPP Containers completed an expansion and upgrade to its existing facility, which will now offer recycling customers lower costs, faster turnaround, and improved customer service.

KUKA Robotics Roboter GmbH expanded its global presence with the opening of KUKA Robotics Canada, Ltd.

Prent Corp. recently broke ground for a new facility in Holbaek, Denmark, to supply the packaging needs of European medical device manufacturers. Peter Bay was named managing director of Prent-Denmark.

Integrated Packaging Corp. opened a new $10 million, 90,000 sq.-ft. manufacturing facility in New Brunswick, NJ. The plant will house a hew high-tech BHS Corrugator machine.

Wilkinson Industries, Inc. and Dispoz-o Products, Inc. have merged.

NatureWorks invested $1 million to transform its former pilot plant in Savage, MN, into an Ingeo™ bioresin applications lab capable of commercial-grade compounding, sheet extrusion, thermoforming, injection molding, and fiber spinning.

The National Assn. for PET Container Resources (NAPCOR) announced the addition of the following companies to its roster: Wellman, Inc.; Reterra Plastics; and Krones.

Gem Gravure Co., Inc. formed the OnCode Division, which is a joint venture between Gem Gravure and KBA-Metronic.

Exopack signed a joint venture agreement with Lebanon-based packaging manufacturer Indevco Group to manufacture co-extruded PE film in the Middle East.

Sick joined the Profibus/Profinet Trade Association (PTO) North America, which is dedicated to showing the beneficial results of using fieldbuses, specifically Profibus/Profinet.

Unicep Packaging, Inc., named Don Prince director of operations and Kelly Jones quality control manager.

Harry Tarzian was hired for the field service/engineering staff of Rocheleau Blow Molding Systems.

Nathan Flood joined Power Engineers as senior refrigeration specialist.

Jim Stirn joined Baker Adhesives, div. of AMB Enterprises, LLC, as vice president of sales.

Frank Kitchel was named vice president of marketing, Meat & Dairy Flexibles, for Alcan Packaging Foods Americas.

Adam Koller joined Delkor Systems Inc. as director of engineering.

ACHIEVEMENTS 

R.E.D. Stamp Inc. owners Bruce DeBoer, James Rabourn, and Robert Emaus were named the 2009 Michigan Small Business Persons of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Crown Food Packaging North America, a business unit of Crown Holdings, Inc. received the Spirit of Excellence Award from Hormel Foods Corp.
