Courtaulds Performance Films has doubled silicone coating capacity at its Martinsville, VA, facility by extensively upgrading an existing gravure coater with new ovens, drive systems and components supplied primarily by Faustel (Germantown, WI).

Courtaulds wouldn't reveal the name of the machine's original supplier, it did say that the unit was improved earlier this year. Housed in a cleanroom, the 62"-wide unit uses advanced tension control and web handling technology to produce premium silicone-coated release films for label, tape and carrier sheet.
