The merger will broaden Atlanta-based Diversapack’s capabilities to its core customers while also growing the customer base and increasing the company’s presence in the packaging industry.

Diversapack is a contract packager and a manufacturer and converter of flexible packaging films. The company services the health and beauty, cosmetic, food, beverage, industrial, and military markets.

UPS is a contract manufacturer and packager offering bulk-manufacturing capabilities and R&D innovation concepts to the same markets that Diversapack serves. Its customers market well-known fragrances and personal care and over-the-counter drug products.

“The partnership with Diversapack is exciting to us because they bring a new level of vision and commitment that will enable Universal Packaging Systems to enhance its technology and grow in the marketplace,” says Julio Liberal, UPS president.

In a second merger, The Visual Pak Companies (www.visualpak.com), Waukegan, IL, has acquired Norka Inc. (www.norkainc.com), a specialty packaging company in Appleton, WI. The acquisition expands Visual Pak into commercial printing and custom-paper-conversion services. “Top consumer products companies today are looking to outsource to contract manufacturers and packagers who deliver real value,” says Clayton Bolke, Visual Pak chief executive officer. “That’s not just cost savings. It’s quality that meets their standards. It’s the flexibility to provide a single service or to be the single source, and it’s the responsiveness to adjust to the needs and spikes of the project.”
