Results of Packaging Innovation Study to be Presented at Pack Expo International 2010

Professionals from Summit Publishing Company’s Packaging World and design consultancy Dragon Rouge will present findings from two-year study on packaging innovation.

Professionals attending this fall’s Pack Expo International in Chicago will be able to gain insights into the process of packaging innovation and consumer response to innovation. Jim George, Marketing & Design Editor at Packaging World and Eric Zeitoun, President of Dragon Rouge, an international design consultancy, will present metrics on what is driving packaging innovation today. The findings will offer ideas for consumer packaged goods professionals who wish to develop packages that can increase brand sales.

The presentation, “Packaging Innovation's Future: Where the metrics are pointing us” will be prepared using the results of a nearly two-year exclusive research project conducted by Packaging World’s package design publication Shelf Impact! and Dragon Rouge. During the study, branding and packaging professionals were asked to evaluate the effectiveness of recent packaged product innovations to determine how consumers perceive innovation. The report, based on feedback from nearly 2,500 respondents, will feature in-depth analysis in the following topic areas: package structure as the most tangible proof of innovation; using graphics and structure together to create a holistic branding experience for consumers; and use of materials to support consumer perception of innovation.

Comments Packaging World publisher Joe Angel: “This presentation will offer exceptional intelligence for brand owners and packaging professionals. It’s supported with nearly two years of research and Jim George’s authoritative insights, honed during his ten plus years of experience as a packaging journalist. In addition to being the Marketing & Design Editor of Packaging World and Editor of Shelf Impact! and Contract Packaging magazine, Jim leads Shelf Impact!'s popular Package Design Workshop series and is a sought after presenter on the marketing impact of packaging.”

Co-presenter Eric Zeitoun is the President of Dragon Rouge and has worked on projects across multiple industries for clients such as Bausch & Lomb, ChevronTexaco, Citigroup, Comcast, Discovery Channel, Dow Corning, GE, Hilton Hotels, HP, John Deere, LVMH, McDonald's Nissan, Petrobras, SAP, and TDAmeritrade.

“Packaging Innovation’s Future: Where the metrics are pointing us” is part of the Packaging Learning Center Conference Program being produced by the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP), offered November 1-3, at Pack Expo International 2010.
