Caraustar exits CP, CRB businesses

, an Atlanta-based recycled-paperboard and packaging company, says it intends to exit its specialty contract packaging and coated recycled boxboard businesses. The company says the moves are part of a strategic transformation plan.

The specialty contract package business includes six facilities, located in Birmingham, AL; Robersonville, NC; Bucyrus, OH; Strasburg, OH; Clifton, NJ; and Pine Brook, NJ. The company’s coated recycled boxboard business consists of mills in Versailles, CT; Rittman, OH; and Tama, IA.

“Caraustar’s management team has been working diligently on a comprehensive strategic review of all of our businesses,” says Michael J. Keough, president and CEO, adding that the company was seeking buyers for both businesses.
